We believe in maintaining smaller portfolios that can be worked within a reasonable time and will not tolerate prospect-hoarding that jeopardizes donor experience or institutional support. Shared credit is expected and encouraged; we value collaboration and teamwork above personal gain and convenience.Our weighted metric system reflects the scope of influence a fundraiser has based on the stage of gift cycle and tenure in the role. New fundraisers and new hires will prioritize substantiative visits over dollars raised. Over time, the weight of success will shift to proposals and dollars raised. With most of our donors located in the El Paso area, travel is generally within driving distance. In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of major ($25,000+) and principal-level ($1,000,000+) prospects and donors, both regionally and nationally.Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement targeted strategies that facilitate successful evaluation, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and investment from donors. You'll effectively align donors' interests with the college's initiatives and opportunities, ensuring that these opportunities resonate with the philanthropic goals of the donors and the University's mission. By leveraging these connections, you will play a crucial role in fostering meaningful relationships that support the University's fundraising objectives.Collaborating closely with campus partners in the College of Engineering, the COENG advisory board, and our Institutional Advancement Development team, you will guide the identification and prioritization of fundraising opportunities that propel the college toward its goals. These include providing innovative educational programs, advancing pioneering research that fosters new knowledge and technology, and implementing and commercializing these innovations to address critical engineering and computing challenges.Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records on donors and prospects, which is critical for effective relationship management and strategic planning. This includes documenting all interactions, contact reports, and relevant notes within the CRM system (Raiser's Edge NXT). By ensuring that this information is up to date, you will provide valuable insights for yourself and your colleagues, allowing for informed decision-making and tailored engagement strategies. You will also oversee the preparation of compelling funding proposals, assessments of potential support, briefings, gift agreements, and endowments for your assigned prospects, ensuring that all relevant parties (academic partners, faculty, researchers, and staff) are actively involved in these key efforts.While no two days will be the same, you can expect to engage in identifying and strategizing investment opportunities while building impactful, long-term relationships with our constituents.
