Position Title Senior Security Dispatcher Job Category Support Staff Salary Range $45,320 - $46,698 Position Type Full Time Department Public Safety Job Summary The Senior Security Dispatcher coordinates day to day operations in Public Safety, manages traffic summons tracking and acts as the department Administrative Assistant. This position involves receiving and dispatching Public Safety emergency calls and messages in the Public Safety dispatch room. Included in the communications function is in-person customer service, heavy telephone interaction, monitoring emergency fire panels, phones, call boxes and the campus camera system. The Senior Security Dispatcher is the lead dispatcher for the department and provides guidance, administrative assistance and information regarding campus, departmental and dispatcher related updates to the Director of Public Safety or his designee and the evening dispatcher on a daily basis. The Senior Security dispatcher is responsible for completing various administrative duties such as departmental payroll, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, blanket purchase orders, mail collection and distribution, the daily electronic log, or logbook in the event of an electrical or equipment failure that renders the electronic log inoperable. Other duties include receiving and inputting motor vehicle summons information from the security patrols, receiving citation appeals from the campus population and preparing them for further action by the Director of Public Safety. Issues decals or parking permits as defined in established college policy, assist the Director of Public Safety or his designee with conducting background check request from various local, state and federal agencies in accordance with established regulations regarding privacy rights. The Security Dispatcher performs security related functions outside the dispatch room to augment officers during special events or emergency conditions. The Senior Security Dispatcher also performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Education High School Diploma and valid drivers license required. Qualifications - Experience The candidate must have a minimum experience of two years in this discipline. As a part of the CCM first responder group, it is highly desirable that the Security Dispatcher have prior experience as a first responder (fire/police/security/EMS/HAZ-MAT or similar). Qualifications - Skills The Security Dispatcher must have excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills as well as expert time management skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and the ability to detect and solve problems effectively. The candidate must work well as a part of a team and individually. The Security Dispatcher is primarily assigned to indoor duties but may occasionally work outdoors in all weather conditions. Work Hours Work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. The selected candidate must share in a fair and equal portion of departmental overtime.
